About Ms. Hoverstock

I believe that learning in the arts adds important balance to a child's education.  I hope to provide opportunities for students to think critically and come up with unique solutions to open-ended problems.  Exploration, kids' ideas, backgrounds, and experiences are valued and counted upon in the art room.  Students are encouraged to try new things, approach problems from different perspectives, and to reflect on their own work, as well as the work of others.  I hope that by gaining competency in visual communication, students will have more tools for understanding and being understood in the world. 

Participating in art gives kids safe opportunities to try new things, create and debate multiple solutions, and practice thinking outside the box.  As students create, learn about, and interact with art, they develop problem solving skills, imagination, self-discipline, and awareness of detail. 

Art at Casey includes many opportunities for community connections. We work with visiting artists, create tile murals for the City of Boulder, display work in local stores and in local shows, and participate in national and international art exchanges.  There is always new art on display in the halls of Casey as well.  Because I believe that artists need an audience, every opportunity is taken to showcase the excellent work that Casey artists create.
